Were seen during the celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the Netherlands Institute in Rome (NIR). On October 21st 2004 “Diva Dolorosa”, a compilation of old film material by Peter Delpeut, was performed in the Sinopoli-room of the Auditorium. Peter took the “found footage” from Italian Diva-pictures from the period of 1910-1920, and he used it for a new narration of the sociology of love, sexual repression, and the tragic faith of the divas. The symphonic music of Loek Dikker is an alchemy of style, as it reminds us of the historic setting, but at the same time represents contemporary music. The Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, lead by Francesco la Vecchia, performed the composition.
Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands was present.
